Welcome to Nicola Dilenardo Therapy
Hi, I’m Nicola (She/Her) - I’m a BACP-registered person-centred counsellor, lead counsellor at a busy NHS GP practice, and a qualified counselling supervisor — but more than anything, I’m someone who’s here to really listen. With warmth, empathy, and zero judgement.
If you’ve found your way here, something in life might not feel quite right. Maybe you're overwhelmed, stuck, or simply unsure where to turn. Reaching out can be daunting — and it’s completely okay to feel nervous. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself.
I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk about whatever’s on your mind. Whether it's something recent or something you’ve been carrying for a long time, we’ll explore it together at your pace. My aim isn’t to give advice or offer quick fixes — but to truly understand your experiences and support you in finding a way forward that feels right for you.
My approach is rooted in the person-centred model, meaning I believe deeply in your capacity to grow, heal, and make meaning when given the right conditions. Sessions are collaborative and led by you. I also integrate other humanistic approaches where helpful, allowing me to work flexibly with a wide range of experiences.
Many clients come to me with issues around anxiety, low mood, loss, trauma, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions. But you don’t need a diagnosis or a crisis to begin therapy. If something’s weighing on you, that’s reason enough.
In Addition to Private Practice
I’m also the Lead Counsellor at an NHS GP practice, where I manage placements and support a team of trainee and qualified therapists. I run a community Wellbeing Hub that offers a safe, welcoming space for people to connect and support each other during difficult times.
As a qualified clinical supervisor, I also work with counsellors across the profession — offering thoughtful, reflective supervision tailored to individual practice.
Where & How I Work
I offer counselling to individuals aged 16+ in a way that suits you:
• In-person at The Grove Therapy Rooms in Ilkley (just a short walk from the train station and main car park)
• Online across the UK via Zoom
• By telephone, if that feels most comfortable for you
Let’s Talk
Finding the right counsellor matters, which is why I offer a free 30-minute phone or in-person consultation. It’s a chance to explore what you're looking for and see if working together feels like the right fit.
My practice is LGBTQ+ affirmative—everyone’s welcome here.
